Fragrance Advent Calendar with Premium Structure and Materials

The 2021 Jo Malone fragrance advent calendar featured an impressive external size of 390mm x 175mm x 160mm, constructed from rigid board and finished with textured cream Wibalin paper. The light tone and smooth tactile finish gave the calendar a distinctively premium feel. Branded subtly yet effectively, the exterior featured the iconic Jo Malone logo and minimalist borders in black foil — balancing luxury with simplicity.

Opening the calendar revealed a black matt interior lid with two elegant satin ribbons to hold it in place. The lid itself was produced from 2mm rigid board, offering structural strength and style. Every component was designed with care, ensuring the branded advent calendar maintained its integrity both functionally and aesthetically throughout the festive season.

Inside, the calendar was divided into two main layers. The custom advent calendar upper level featured a black shoulder and drawer housing system, constructed from 3mm board and covered in smooth black paper for contrast. Each of the 12 top-level drawers was individually wrapped in cream Wibalin and included cross grain ribbon pulls, cleverly concealed by lined black interiors. Gold foil numbering on each drawer added a festive and polished finish.

Drawer sizes were carefully planned to accommodate different product formats. The eight smaller boxes measured 80mm H x 40mm W x 72mm D, while the two square drawers came in at 80mm in both height and width. A single tall, narrow drawer measured 160mm H x 50mm W, and the largest drawer on this level — ideal for a full-size candle or cologne — measured 160mm H x 80mm W x 72mm D.

The structural tray holding these drawers was mounted into a black base, offering both support and visual contrast. The drawers inside mirrored those above in size and material but were arranged in a different configuration — adding surprise and depth to the unboxing experience.

The pull-out drawer mechanism featured a black cross grain ribbon, maintaining brand consistency and making access effortless. Each component worked harmoniously to deliver a seamless customer experience, from drawer grip to tactile texture and visual symmetry.
