Moorcroft is internationally recognised for its fine art pottery, celebrated for intricate floral designs, deep colour palettes, and exceptional craftsmanship. To create a festive product worthy of the brand, Moorcroft approached Magellan with a clear objective: to design a luxury advent calendar that would showcase genuine Moorcroft ceramics in a way that felt collectible, indulgent, and unmistakably premium.

Rather than producing a novelty calendar, Moorcroft envisioned a large 12-door advent calendar that turned the opening experience into a moment of ceremony. The calendar needed to perform as both protective packaging and an elegant display piece. Our role was to engineer their ideas into a structurally refined, production-ready product that delivered luxury in both form and function.

MOORCROFT LUXURY POTTERY CALENDAR

Premium Presentation Structure

Moorcroft wanted an advent calendar that felt like a cabinet rather than a carton. Magellan created a Rigid Board Double Door Gatefold Case & Base to deliver a grand reveal and premium presentation.

With internal dimensions of 450mm (L) × 310mm (W) × 132mm (D), this substantial format allows each pottery piece to be securely housed without compromising elegance. Hinged on the short edge, the structure opens symmetrically like a display cabinet, immediately showcasing the contents.

The main case was constructed from 3mm greyboard and wrapped in 140gsm uncoated paper, printed CMYK and finished with anti-scuff matt lamination for durability and visual refinement. Internally, a 120gsm black Wibalin® liner adds contrast and a tactile premium finish. Two discreet 9mm round magnets ensure secure door closure and a smooth open-and-close motion.

Internal Structure & Construction

To support weight and longevity, the V-cut case design was glued at the back for strength. The base mirrored the same 3mm greyboard construction, using a matching printed wrap and finished with anti-scuff lamination for visual continuity. Two receiver discs were integrated into the structure to align perfectly with the magnetic doors.

The interior houses 12 individual rigid board drawers, each produced in varying sizes to accommodate different pottery forms. The drawers were manufactured from 290gsm White Peak FBB, printed CMYK and finished with anti-scuff matt lamination for a cohesive look and tactile consistency.

Precision internal dividers were incorporated to prevent movement and safeguard each ceramic piece during transport, storage, and daily use.
